True to say that Bruce Lee could be faster than Mike Tyson but he is small, light, and short, but Mike is heavier, bigger, taller, his punch is powerful as well. Mike is overwhelming Bruce. I think Bruce can not hold up to 5 minutes.
What is Bruce Lee into
Mike Tyson will whoop Bruce Lee’s hiney in a matter of seconds…
Why? Because of the following reasons.
1) Bruce Lee is a featherweight and Mike Tyson is a heavyweight.
2) Bruce Lee has never been tested in real competition. Movies are one thing but reality is something else. In fact, Bruce Lee declined a challenge from Rorion Gracie himself (brother of the legendary Royce Gracie).
3) Chinese Martial Arts is inefficient (too many unnecessary movements), too flashy to be use in a real fight, and its practitioners have failed MMA tournaments worlwide. Karate has had more success with Michida and St. Pierre but Kung Fu hasn’t produce any good fighters except in the movies.
4) Boxing is power though not as good as Graeco Roman Wrstling, Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai but definitely better than Kung Fu’s ‘dragon style killing technique’ nor the very fantasy inspired ‘drunken panda’ whatever technique.
5) The only person beaten by Bruce Lee is a kid who interferred in his film shoot and he had a hard time beating the young impressionistic lad. The other guy is a mystery so he doesn’t count (but I am certain that guy is no where near Tyson’s skill).
6) Kung is for sci-fi and fairy-tale loving kids while boxing is for real men.
Hope that settles it. Bruce Lee is a fraud. he’s a good action star but not a good fighter in real life…

Probably 51% chance of winning to the 1st person that connected a powerful punch/kick.
One must remember Lee suffered a major injury in his younger years, but he was in tremendous shape. Tyson was extremely powerful, but trained in only one style. Lee would have had sufficient agility and a great retinue of styles in his arsenal to avoid most of the punches and defend himself. Tyson would have been able to absorb a great deal of damage. Look at the weight difference.
Lee despite his tremendous speed and effective punching power, it would be like shooting a rhino with a .22 calibre while Tyson would be a .44 calibre shooting a fly. It can be done, but with great difficulty. Tyson didn’t get to where he was by being slow.
I seriously doubt the fight would have lasted more than a minute. Still in my books- Ali in his prime could have put either one in intensive care without getting hit once.
Bruce Lee
I realize that in this board you are going to get the answers of many impressionable, ill informed but well intentioned people.
Many of which are too young to really remember how good Mike Tyson was in his Prime.
In an MMA match, hands down Mike Tyson would knock Bruce Lee out.
First and foremost, it is done in a cage or a ring. Mike Tyson had tremendous ring management skills, and could put people into corners pretty much at will.
Secondly: Speed. Mike Tyson’s handspeed was amazing, not to mention the power behind it. While Bruce Lee looked impressive, and showed power with DEMONSTRATIONS of one inch punches, Mike Tyson knocked out 44 highly capable professional boxers. (over half of which were under 2 minutes of the first round).
Third: Proven experience in combat, as another poster said, Bruce Lee’s “Real” fights are pretty much part of his mythology. Let’s take that into account as if his proposed fights were 100 percent real. It would still not come close to 58 fights against professional fighters. Given this experience and ringmanship, Mike Tyson would have no problems putting Bruce Lee into a cage.
Fourth: Tremendous weight advantage, even if Mike Tyson just leaned on Bruce, the sheer weight difference alone would be enough for a victory. However when you add devastating punching power, well then it becomes even clearer of Mike Tyson’s ability.
Fifth: Keep in mind Bruce Lee mentioned on numerous occassion that Mohammed Ali would beat him in a fight, and Mike Tyson in his prime easily could rival Ali.
Unfortunately personal life did Mike Tyson in, if the death of Cus D’Amato, his life with Robin Givens, and some horrible mistakes made by a young foolish man, there might not have been this argument. The guy honestly has had a rough life, if it wasn’t for his personal problems, he probably would have retired an unrivaled legend.
There is no real comparison. Not knocking Kung Fu, (Which really was only Bruce Lee’s base) or Bruce Lee, but he was not a professional fighter. Mike Tyson was. A MMA match is a professional fight, and regardless of the variety of Bruce’s training, it would not have been enough to beat one dimensional legendary puncher, since Bruce’s experience in grappling was highly limited, and Mike Tyson’s sheer strength, weight, power, and speed.
Honestly, a lot of pro MMA fighters now would have a hard time with Mike Tyson in his prime. You are talking about a guy who could literally beat a man with one punch with either hand, and had devastating speed.
Bruce Lee is impressive but lacked experienced in professional fights, despite the absolute irrelevance due to size.
I don’t doubt Bruce would get some solid shots in, including some great leg kicks, and land some great blows. But in the end, two or three shots from Mike Tyson would have put a serious hurt on him, and once he was hurt Tyson would go in for the kill, and quite possibly have actually killed him.
No gloves? That would be a scary thought with Mike Tyson in his prime, the guy was fast with 16 ounces of encumberance on his hands.
Just my opinion.

Omega and Judomofo know EXACTLY what they are saying. Mike Tyson was a much bigger man, and he is a GREAT puncher.
Mike will win hands down.

I can’t believe everyone saying Bruce Lee would win. Bruce Lee has even admitted that all you need to overcome martial arts is a little western boxing and wrestling. Mike Tyson would win not only because of the size difference, but the fighting style. Bruce Lee is great at what he does, but in a real fight karate has a lot of flaws that leave you wide open to take a hit.
But if this was not in the cage and it was a kumite of some kind, Bruce Lee would win.

Bruce Lee could have beaten Tyson on his worst day if Tyson was having his best one

Bruce! thanks for the 2points! but that’s just to fan the flames of debate.
and remember; we are talking “no rules” so i think Bruce would have the upper hand here since he has a multitude of lethal techniques to choose from. I believe if both of these fighters were to understand the gravity of the situation, Bruce would not hesitate to cripple Tyson or take his life if this truly was a fight to the “finish”.
on the other hand, if this was an MMA cage fight with all the rules of the UFC, then Tyson would have the upper hand.

if they were the same size, Bruce Lee would win. But, in a normal situation, Mike Tyson would have the size advantage.

I am sorry my friends, but there is no contest here. Master Lee would have defeated the Great Boxer Mike Tyson. And that is just the way things are. Any student of Martial Arts knows (as taught in Karate) “Power comes from the Earth.” Which means a powerful attack must come from your feet. Which Bruce knew how to use and how to attack. Mike would be left without a leg to stand on. So to speak… (And PS Bruce Lee was many things in his life. A collage Professor, Writer/Author, Actor, Philosopher, & Movie Preoducer. But first and formost, he was/is an inovater and reformer of Martial Arts!)

This is from an interview with a heavy weight boxer.
James DeMile: “Aloha Kevin, I never get tired of reflecting on my time with Bruce because there were only a few of us who have the memories that are part of his Legacy. I was a heavyweight boxer in the Air Force. Over a four year period I had over a hundred fights and never lost one. I had a very big ego and perceived myself as the toughtest man alive. I was 5ft 10inches and weighted 225. I could knock a man out with either hand. Then I met a small 135 lb 5 ft 7 kid who believed his martial arts could beat anyone. I decided to explain the reality of fighting to him and proceded to show him what street fighting was all about. Needless to say I learned humility in about 5 seconds. He not only stopped me cold, but tied me up in such a way that he could hit me at will and the only thing I could do about it was… nothing. Later I reviewed all my previous skills, including boxing and threw all of it out as it was impractical against Bruce’s skills.”
In a street fight with no rules, mike tyson would be torn appart. Bruces speed and targeting points such as the eyes groin ect, would render tyson incapable of fighting back.
