A mestizo is somebody who is HALF white and HALF NATIVE. Just because you have traces of Native American ancestry doesn’t mean you are a Mestizo.
BTW: The “Mestizos” that are white or look white are the ones that are usually running their Latin countries, so they have no reason to immigrate to other nations.

I guess it has everything to do with the percentage of indian “blood” in their background.
Also, the term mestizo applies to mixes in Latin America, not in the US or Canada. So, “technically” NO they would NOT be considered mestizo.
