Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011), Madagascar 3 (2012) and Golden Globe Nomination for Heath Ledger

Jennifer Longe asked:

I don’t know much about Kung Fu Panda since I’ve never watched it and don’t intend on doing so any time soon, unless I get really bored and desperate. But I will admit that having my favorite stars (Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan and Lucie Liu) in it makes it tempting and the $631,619,244 it earned worldwide arouses curiosity. But an all star cast plus popularity doesn’t always equal good movie. Anyway, Kung Fu Panda fans will be glad to know that there is a sequel scheduled to be released on June 2011. Hope you’ll enjoy it.

Now a feature where an all star cast (Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Cedric The Entertainer) plus popularity ($532,680,671) equaled great movie – for me – is Madagascar; one of the funniest movies. Its sequel, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, which was released on November 07th 2008, is better than its predecessor and, so far has earned $293,566,178. DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg said "Escape 2 Africa" is the "second chapter in one story, there is at least one more chapter. We ultimately want to see the characters make it back to New York." Meaning, if they don’t make it back in the third installment, their will be a fourth one. If they don’t make it back in the fourth one, there will be a fifth one and so on. I’m more exited about more “Madagascar” chapters than the prequels Shrek 4 (2010) and Shrek 5 (No Date Yet). As long as King Julien and Maurice and the Penguins stay, I’ll definitely watch them. Speaking of the Penguins, they have their own series titled The Penguins of Madagascar which will premiere on Nickelodeon on March 2009. King Julien and Maurice are also in it. Yeah!!!

The Dark Knight is back in theaters in hopes of increases its Golden Globe and Oscar chances. The Golden Globe nominations were announced on Thursday and the movie received only one nomination: Best Supporting Actor for none other than Heath Ledger. The other nominees are Tom Cruise (Tropic Thunder), Robert Downer Jr. (Tropic Thunder), Ralph Fiennes (The Duchess) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt). Let’s hope that it will have better luck at the 81st Oscar hosted by Hugh Jackman.

Funny Fight Clips

Thursday, December 24th, 2009
Robin Futcher asked:

Some of the funniest fight video clips that I have ever seen on TV are related to fighting, whether boxing moments, wrestling moments, martial arts moments, or drunken guys fighting. However, I could not find any of these videos online until I discover the Funny Fight Clips at UTubeVideoClip.com.

Sometimes simulated sometimes for real fights between two guys who are not mad but under the effects of excessive alcohol ingestion are comical. There is an old Chinese film starred by Jackie Chan during his old days as a Hong Kong superstar in 1978. Being essentially a drama, Drunken Master is a movie that portrays young Jackie learning the ancient martial style of the “The Eight Drunken Immortals” mythical Chinese gods.

According with to the real tradition, those gods appear in China during the Tang Dynasty between the years 618 and 917. Originally known as the Eight Immortals of the Wine Cup, they were widely known for being in love with alcoholic beverages and there is a female figure among them. Overtime the Eight Immortals also received the name of Eight Immortals Indulged in Wine and the Shaolin temple developed the style that is taught to Jackie Chan by and old drunk master performed by Simon Yuen, who was his martial arts teacher in real life.

Whoever has watched a Jackie Chan’s movie at least once in life should know that he has always incorporated comedy moments in almost all of his movies, before and after his arrival to Hollywood. Drunken Master in not an exception and just the fact of a female goddess among the Eight Immortals make you enjoy a very funny fighting sequence when the lazy student Jackie Chan tricks his teacher skipping the learning of the female fighting manners being forced to improvise them when the final fighting to defeat an assassin takes place.

Wine is not certainly a good friend of human or divine body reflex or special skills so the fighting movements of each god are funny by itself. The Chinese Poet Du Fu wrote a poem about the Eight Drunken Immortals describing who they were: He Zhizhang, Li Jin, Li Shizhi, Cui Zongzhi, Su Jin, Li Bai, Zhang Xu, and Jiao Sui, who were real living people during the Tang Dynasty as well.

As an undisciplined student, Jackie Chan provides numerous UTube funny video clips that their fans love to share, and because all his former Chinese movies are plotted around martial arts stories, there are many opportunities to see a funny fight moment, although Drunken Master is a classic among those people who laugh aloud with the clumsiness of a drunken guy.

Multiply that fun for Eight Drunken Immortals and mix female manners during fighting time to enjoy an incredible funny UTube moment. However, it is not only about martial arts or Hong Kong movies; any funny fight clips have an open space for upload, share, and watch at utubevideoclip.com. Of course, if you are one of the lucky owners of the original Jackie Chan martial movies, take advantage of it and take some funny clips to share with us.

Karate Kid “remake”

Friday, November 6th, 2009
Jennifer Longe asked:

Wax on: Jackie Chan as Mr. Miyagi, wax off. Wax on: Jaden Smith as “the kid”, wax off.

The Karate Kid franchise started off really well. The original movie The Karate Kid (1984) grossed over $90,000,000, helped Pat Morita’s career and started Ralph Macchio’s. The Crane Kick, mostly referred to as “Sweep The Leg” has been depicted in many other movies; like when a character would pretend to know karate or try some. Last time I saw it was in Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (2006), Scrat had gone to the “other side” and was going towards a giant nut, when Sid gave him mouth to mouth and brought him back. Angry, he “Swept The Leg”, then started hitting Sid. The Karate Kid 2 (1986) was even better and grossed over $115,400,000.

The Karate Kid 3 (1989) performed poorly and grossed less than $40,000,000. The Next Karate Kid (1994) which stared a newer, fresher and female kid, Hilary Swank, performed worse than Karate Kid 3 and only grossed $8.9 million.

Now comes the next Karate Kid remake for which people are not so thrilled about. Many believe that it won’t be as popular as the original and that nothing will ever replace it.

Since the rumors started, there are a couple of things which puzzled me:

1- Jackie Chan would be playing the role of Mr. Miyagi and the guy is Chinese. Not that it matters a lot, but there is still a difference between Chinese and Japanese and the guy does more Kung Fu than Karate in his movies.

2- Jaden Smith, the son of Jaden Pinkett Smith and Will Smith - He was so cute in The Pursuit Of Happyness – will be playing “the kid”. He’s younger, 11 years old, that the original Karate Kid who was a teenager.

While making research about the plot, PopCrunch.com said that the “movie will loosely follow the plot of the original film”, TheHollywoodReporter.com wrote “The setting will be relocated from the U.S. to China.” And IMDB has “Untitled KARATE KID Remake (2010)”. So before we make a final decision concerning the movie, maybe we should wait to hear the whole story first. Well the main part at least, after all, we don’t want to spoil the fun at the theater just in case it turns out to be better than expected.

The first Karate Kid, Ralph Macchio, now 47 years old, told MTV “I think Jaden - you know, Will Smith’s kid - the kid’s got chops. He’s young; he’s like eleven…That story will work forever, when well-told. So, it makes sense in that respect.” And “From my personal view, the filling the void of what Mr. Miyagi was - and the magic of that character - is going to be the toughest task,” Then added “I (also) don’t know where the romantic story-arc goes (with Smith’s Daniel) at that age.”

We don’t know what Pat Morita’s take on the remake is, since the sensei died of natural causes on November 24th 2005 at the age 73.

“The Movie” will be directed by Harald Zwart (Agent Cody Banks (2003), Pink Panther 2 (2009)), written by Chris Murphy (Seems like this is his first project) and produced by Jerry Weintraub (The Karate Kid (1984), Ocean’s Eleven (2001)) with Overbrook Entertainment’s James Lassiter, Ken Stovitz and Will Smith – I wonder how Jaden got the role!

As a matter of fact this article is going to reveal how you can watch The Forbidden Kingdom full movie today and how to legally download movies online.

Are you a movie buff? There is a good chance that you are; millions of people love to watch movies. That is the reason that Hollywood directors are willing to spend millions to make movies; because they know that the public will go out and watch all the movies that they produce. However if you are frustrated with paying the high costs of movie theaters and movie rentals then you have come to the right place. You no longer have to pay to watch each and every movie that you choose to watch. If you love collecting movies as well you are definitely going to love this technology.

The average cost of watching a movie at the theater is around $6.00 for a matinee; and that is not including the popcorn and the drink. You can easily tack on another $15.00 for a medium popcorn and two drinks I know because that is what I paid when I went to the movies last time with my girlfriend and some friends. We can all see how this can add up pretty quickly; especially when there are a bunch of new movies coming out this summer that everyone is going to want to watch.

Well you can watch The Forbidden Kingdom full movie today and learn how to legally download movies online without worrying about doing anything illegal. It is called a movie membership site. Once you pay to become a member you will be granted access to over 80 million movies, music, games and even television shows. The download time is very quick and you do not have to worry about paying for each movie you watch.

Yes there are already sites that enable you to watch movies online like Netflix, Blockbusters and several others. However with these sites you have to wait on a disc to come through the mail and then you mail the disc back before you get the other movies you want to watch. This can take time and is a pain.

Now with technology today you can immediately download the movies right onto your computer or laptop and watch a quality picture from the comfort of your home without a disc.

You will not have to purchase any extra hardware, spyware or anything else to use this service. Your VIP membership is all you need to access the movie library.

If you found this article on “watch The Forbidden Kingdom full movie today - how to legally download movies online” helpful; visit our site below. You will be shown exactly how this technology works and you will then be granted access into one of the biggest movie libraries on the internet today!

Looking for the Hitman Movie

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008
jlee765 asked:

The “Hitman” kills people with professional ease, but can’t bring himself to bang to the nearly naked Russian hottie who continually flings herself at him. Of course, this hero, known only as Agent 47, is a geek’s poster boy, starring in a movie that looks like a video game because it is, in fact, based on a video game. So the hits come easy. But how do you manage romantic encounters in a video game?

At least “Hitman” is counterprogramming with a vengeance. Young males seeking escape from Disney’s Thanksgiving flagship “Enchanted” have a safe haven. So the film might attract a sizable audience before retreating to DVD shelves, where it can compete for attention with its own video game.

The formula is not that far removed from James Bond except there’s a hole at its center. Agent 47, played by a virtually expressionless Timothy Olyphant, is a soulless, emotionally dead protagonist. He dresses well and handles weaponry with aplomb but sees no difference between killing a man or buying a newspaper.

The other formula is Hong Kong martial arts, where a hero faces down multiple combatants. Even there, Jackie Chan and his imitators add a dash of slapstick comedy and a character to root for. But here, a French director, American writer and filmmakers from all over Europe, in their struggle to appeal to video gamers, strip away anything human for their Agent 47.

A precredit sequence is pretty vague, but this superassassin seemingly gets created through Frankenstein genetic engineering overseen by a bunch of Christian monks! Why would monks want to create hitmen? Anyway, Agent 47 apparently is the best of the breed, which means he is the cream of the crop.Agent 47’s new assignment is to whack the top candidate for Russia’s presidency. He scores a kill shot from long range, but the victim shows up later that day to deliver a speech. What gives? That’s what Mike Whittier, an Interpol agent who has tracked this killer for years, wants to know. He feels a kind of pride in his “ghost.” “My boy doesn’t miss,” he proclaims. But a shady Russian spy chief (Robert Knepper) wants to cover up everything; the candidate’s brother (Henry Ian Cusick) wants to go back to his everyday life peddling girls, drugs and black-market weapons; and for some reason everyone wants to kill a poor Russian whore named Nika.

Agent 47 is told to kill her, but he takes one look and can’t pull the trigger. Since he won’t kill her or sexually attack her, Nika bitterly reproaches him for his “indifference” to her.The movie bangs around from Moscow — Sofia, Bulgaria, stands in for the Russian capital — to Africa and Turkey as Agent 47 drags Nika from one massacre to another, making this one of the stranger cinematic courtships. All the while, the music screams and clamors like an ignored child because director Xavier Gens and writer Skip Woods can’t pump suspense into this inept mess.

“You know, you’re really quite charming when you’re not killing people,” Nika tells 47. Then again, prostitutes always tell men what they need to hear.

Film Review: the Transporter

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008
Kevin L. Powers asked:

I’m not a big fan of the straight forward action movie (like I was when I was twelve) which it is why it took me so long to get around to this Luc Besson written (with Robert Mark Kamen) & produced film THE TRANSPORTER. Unlike Besson’s own directed films this film is nothing short of a throwback to the ‘80s and ‘90s American action film far removed to France (Besson’s home turf).

Directed by Louis Leternier and Corey Yuen THE TRANSPORTER is the misadventures of Frank Martin (Jason Statham) a former military specialist who now transport people and merchandise from one place to the next for a fee. His latest piece of merchandise is an Asian girl Lai (Qi Shu) who was thrown in the back of his car without him knowing it. He soon finds himself wrapped up in a slave labor trade conspiracy (also barrowed whole sale from ‘80s and ‘90s action films).

The events that occur are not entirely unoriginal but in cinematographer Pierre Morel’s hands they are at least fun to look at. The choreography of fight sequences are barrowed from and number of random Jackie Chan flicks and therefore staged in a very ballet structure and execution, which is the highlight of the film. Every time the film takes time away from a fight it is bogged down with needless and clichéd dialogue and conversation between characters. It has you pleading for the film to get back on point and back onto the chase.

I can’t say that I really missed anything having not seen the film upon its original release and I’m sure it’ll be forgotten by tomorrow.
